CAP MAVAL
On the request of the principal of Sevadham School at Malegaon, two members of CAP started teaching spoken English to the teachers of the school for 2 years. Even though the teachers were well educated, they lacked the practice and confidence of speaking fluent English. During this course the teachers learned the basic speaking skills and sentence construction. Some of the teachers carried forward the teachings and passed on to the students. Encouraged by this the principal of secondary high school at NIGDE also invited the team to conduct such a class for students. For two years we conducted once a month class for students of 8th and 9th standard of both the schools in spoken English as well as basic mathematics. During this project it was realised that the students of rural schools in Maval taluka are really in need of such a course.
Some of our members guide the students in making ‘science toys’ ( like telescope ) & give them presentation on astronomy, physics etc to create a liking for these subjects in their minds.
Girls & boys in rural areas are generally not aware of many career opportunities open to them. As a result, most of the girls end their education after 10th std. Many boys & girls go for B.com. after 10th std, which seems to be the easiest option they know. Many, highly talented boys & girls miss the opportunity to pursue careers, which could place them in higher, responsible positions in some big organizations.
Members of SAMAJIK SAHAYOG UPAKRAM, who are experienced & knowledgeable in career counselling, go to zilla- parashad schools in different rural places & give personal guidance & counselling to students in 10th /12th std. besides, our organization also gives financial help for admission to specialised courses to talented & needy students. We look for talented & needy students & help them along to enable them to achieve their goals.
